What is the Exotic Dancer Award show?

expo09logoTHE 2009 AWARD SHOW DETAILS:

The 12th Annual Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show
Brought to you and produced by ED Publications

Following in the footsteps of one of the most popular ED’s Awards Show in the events 12-year history, the 2009 ED’s Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards show will once again find itself at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino—this time, in their brand new “Joint” showroom. This year’s “Rock & Jock Awards Show” will boast both a rock ‘n’ roll and sports vibe, incorporating EXPO ‘09’s “Building a Winning Team in Your Club” theme. The 2009 ED’s Awards Show—the multi-billion-dollar adult nightclub industry’s only national awards show—will present awards to the nation’s top adult clubs and feature entertainers on August 25th, 2009, during the 17th Annual Gentlemen’s Club EXPO.

“With all of the great feedback we received after last year’s Awards Show, there was no doubt that we had to return to the Hard Rock,” says ED’s Associate Publisher Dave Manack. “Everything our attendees loved about the ’08 show—live music by The Crashers band, a relaxed rock ‘n’ roll atmosphere, a great venue, table seating, etc.—is back this year, with some new twists.”

Those “twists” include a slew of special awards presenters, including a couple of superstars from the sports world. Dallas Cowboy legend and Superbowl champ Ed “Too Tall” Jones will be handing out ED’s awards, as will motocross superstar Carey Hart. Hart will also host the Awards Show After Party at his nightclub Wasted Space inside the Hard Rock. Other special presenters include Lisa Ann, star of “Nailin’ Palin,” Howard Stern’s “Ronnie the Limo Driver,” porn legend Ron Jeremy, the “Naked Comedian” Jade Simone St. Clair and more.

And speaking of the NFL, Awards Show guests will have a chance to win two tickets to football’s “big game” (and you know what “big game” we’re talking about!) with a surprise competition.

In addition to regional adult club awards in the Northeast, Southeast, Mideast, Central, Southwest and Northwest categories, there are eight clubs nominated for the prestigious, national award for “Overall Gentlemen’s Club of the Year.” They include: Delilah’s in Philadelphia, PA; Diamond Cabaret in Denver, CO; Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club in New York, NY; Pink Pony South in Atlanta, GA; Rachel’s in West Palm Beach, FL; Rick’s Cabaret in New York, NY; The Lodge in Dallas, TX; and The Men’s Club in Charlotte, NC.

In the entertainer award categories, the following four awards will be presented: “Newcomer Feature of the Year,” “Adult Movie Feature of the Year,” “Club Favorite Feature of the Year” and the coveted “Overall Entertainer of the Year.” The five “Entertainer of the Year” nominees, who will also provide command performances on the “Joint” stage, include Daisy Duxe, Rachelle Laree, Robyn Foxx, Schevelle and Suzie Malone.

There are also ED’s awards for “Club Chain of the Year,” “Feature Club of the Year,” “Industry Innovator of the Year” and the Annual ED’s Hall of Fame inductions.

Tickets for the ’09 “Rock & Jock Awards Show” are $89 and can be purchased here or by calling (727) 726-3592. or by CLICKING HERE.

2008 AWARD SHOW RECAP:

aw_badge08You said, “Make it different.” You said, “Go someplace new.” You said, “Make it ROCK.”
Mission accomplished.
For the first time in the 11-year history of the Annual Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show, the entire evening incorporated a theme, from the venue to the music, from the live rock band to the requested attire. The 2008 ED’s Awards Show was held at “The Joint” showroom inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and was the first ever “Rock ‘n’ Roll Awards Show.”

The ‘08 Awards Show was held on Wednesday, August 27, from 9 to 11 pm, and was preceded by a one-hour reception inside “The Joint.” As it has been for the past several years, the ED’s Awards Show was the crowning event of the Annual Gentlemen’s Club Owners EXPO, and is still the only national awards show for the multi-billion-dollar adult nightclub industry.

In keeping with this year’s theme of “firsts” for the Awards Show, this was also the first time that the show had co-hosts. Adult superstarlet and Digital Playground contract girl Jesse Jane was joined by the Howard Stern Show’s Ronnie the Limo Driver, and the pair handed out awards throughout the evening and brought a sexy rock ‘n’ roll attitude to this year’s festivities. Joining the pair on stage was a live rock band — Las Vegas’ hottest rock cover band, The Crashers — who played throughout the evening and were definitely one of the show’s highlights.

The evening’s biggest winners included Carmen Hart, who was crowned ED’s Overall Entertainer of the Year; The Lodge in Dallas, Texas, which took home the Overall Gentlemen’s Club of the Year Award; and Déjà Vu, which not only took home the Club Chain of the Year Award, but also saw its President Jim St. John being inducted into the EXOTIC DANCER Hall of Fame. Don “Weasel” DalPonte of Weasel’s in Wisconsin was also inducted into the Hall of Fame, while Concrete Marketing’s Bob Chiappardi took home the Innovator of the Year Award for the “StripJoints” CD compilations. The Awards Show also put an exclamation point on the EXPO’s theme, as the Overall General Manager of the Year Award was presented to Shawn Doyle of the Hustler Club in San Francisco.

But in reality, everyone at the ‘08 Awards Show had the chance to be a winner. Thanks to ESP Guitars and Concrete Marketing, a guitar signed by each member of ZZ Top was given away at random. At one point in the show, guests were asked to look underneath their chairs for the winning ticket, and one lucky girl walked away with a very valuable collector’s item from a truly classic rock ‘n’ roll band!

“Judging by people’s reactions as they were leaving the venue, the Awards Show was a rousing success and everyone enjoyed the ‘Rock N Roll’ format,” says ED’s Associate Publisher Dave Manack. “The Hard Rock proved to be a perfect host for the event, and the Las Vegas band ‘The Crashers’ added an energy to the show that has seldom been seen.” Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and nominees!

Here's what the award winners had to say!

aw_4The Lodge, Dallas, TX
Overall Gentlemen’s Club of the Year 2008

“We’re proud and we’re thrilled to win this award, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped us achieve this honor — all of our staff and our entertainers, and everyone at ED and the Expo.
Since the Lodge opened in 1996, we’ve worked hard to set the standard in beauty, elegance and integrity. That’s our goal every day, whether or not we win any prizes. But I can’t deny it — it’s wonderful to be recognized as the best in the country, and it inspires us to do even better. We hope you’ll come see us so we can prove it to you in person.” — Dawn Rizos, owner of The Lodge

aw_6Carmen Hart
Overall Entertainer of the Year 2008

“I genuinely appreciate this award to the fullest! I dedicate it to all the ladies who aspire to be the greatest performer: Entertainer of the Year. I almost feels undeserving ... I’m truly grateful. Thanks ED and the entire gentlemen’s club Industry. I love you all!”

aw_7Deja Vu Showgirls
Club Chain of the Year 2008

“We are just thrilled to have been recognized by the industry again as the Club Chain of the Year! This award is an acknowledgement of the dedication and hard work put in on a daily basis by the hundreds of employees and thousands of entertainers who choose to perform in our clubs across the United States and the globe. Without the concerted efforts of everyone, starting with our janitorial staff to the General Managers, our success would not be possible. To also receive this award, given the other tremendous club chains who were nominated, makes it a very special honor indeed.” — Joe Hall, Deja Vu’s Director of Operations

aw_1Jim St. John, President of Deja Vu Showgirls
Hall of Fame inductee for 2008

“Being inducted into the Exotic Dancer Hall of Fame was overwhelming to me. When they told me, for the first time ever, I was speechless. I’ve had several mentors who’ve taught me a lot, but he most important person I’ve learned from in my life is Harry Mohney. He did a hell of a job of teaching me what to do in this business and for that, I am eternally grateful. What I know of this business I owe to Harry.
Some of my proudest moments have come through our accomplishments since we started ACE of Michigan and ACE National. Everybody needs to get involved with the ACE chapter in their state or start one, so we can make sure we still have an adult nightclub industry in the coming years.
Thanks to Don Waitt and Dave Manack of Exotic Dancer for bringing club operators together through the Expo and through the founding of ACE.”

aw_2Don “Weasel” DalPonte,
Weasel’s, Eagle River, Wisconsin
Hall of Fame inductee for 2008

“As a small club owner, it was a great honor to receive this award and to feel that people in the industry believe that I’ve played a part in its growth.
As a little guy with one club, I know that small clubs are the backbone of the industry. They can help support the industry by running good clubs or break its back by not observing the laws and by not being good neighbors in their communities.
The industry has changed a great deal in the 26 years I’ve run Weasel’s and it hasn’t all been for the best. We need to focus on reinventing our industry and concentrate on providing a great entertainment experience to compete with the many other entertainment choices people have. If you’re not already an active member of you local ACE chapter, you need to join and get involved; we need you!”

Bob Chiappardi of Concrete Marketing
Industry Innovator of the Year 2008

“Concrete Marketing has been recognized for it’s innovation in the music business for the past 20 years. To be given an award from an industry outside your industry is extra special and very much appreciated. We look forward to growing our relationship with ED and the adult nightclub owners in the years to come.”

Shawn Doyle, Hustler Club, San Francisco, CA
Overall GM of the Year 2008

“Winning the Overall GM of the Year award was such a great experience. I love adult entertainment and would not do anything else for a living. Being recognized for something you are so passionate about is a wonderful thing.
I continue to learn everyday, and if it wasn’t for such a strong support system, I would not be the GM I am today. Joe Carouba, Gary Marlin and BSC Management are a great group to learn from and grow with. I don’t know how I would have turned out if I didn’t have Gary Marlin to show me the right way to do things early on. Lessons taught by Gary and Dennis DeGori have proven to be incredibly valuable. I am so grateful to them.”
